This ryokan is located deep in the mountains of Mt. Hakkoda in Aomori Prefecture, the northern part of Japan. Its acidic sulfur bath is famous for its potency. It's claim to fame is a coed bath called the "Sennin Buro" (1000 person bath) that is made entirely out of hiba cypress. This is one of the most famous traditional Japanese hot springs.
